Sometimes you think to yourself, “That can’t be that complicated? Its been around forever, we surely must have figured it out by now?”. Well, sometimes things are just that, complicated and disastrously complicated too.
Timezones have always been quite difficult to get right, and I’ve generally tried to avoid them in general. I’ve never really been able to explain the complexities because I’ve never really delved too deeply in to them. At least not as much as Tom Scott from Computerphile, whose incredible rant takes in to a twisty-turny world of time, leap seconds and leap smearing (WTF).
